Pizza and ƒries • key to world peace
I’ve been traveling lately, around the world in 88 minutes or less, on terra goo, a rather remarkable invention, especially the everything feature and street driving with zoom power out the window. must be a lot of people making money driving around.
i check out restaurants, hotels, stores, streets, wherever it takes me. anyplace can post 20 pictures. it’s a good way to see the neighborhoods of the world, very ufo.
i started making my way up the african coast, mile by mile. congo, gabon, cameroon, nigeria, togo, liberia, up over the sahara to morocco, down the other side to the pyramids. looks hot and dry. there are mosques and churches everywhere. a mere 200 miles off the coast of the western sahara are the canary islands. a nice stash of spanish processions. rodeo drive meets the volcanic condo beach scene, everybody has a pool too. lots of upscale sushi joints, funny how that works. africa is a big big place, from cairo down the nile, Victoria falls, kenya, tanzania, mozambique, jump over to madagascar. cross the straights of magellan. pop back up to the middle east. jerusalem, always a party going on some place, versus tel aviv, l.a on the mediterranean. next door saudi arabia, trying to be hip killers. the oil wells are smudged out across the mideast, although port storage facilities are visible everywhere. qatar and the united arab emirates have some pretty tony hotels and sushi bars too. beirut, tehran and syria don’t or have much of anything going on, bleak at best.
Leap over to fogo island in newfoundland. apparently they offer an artists residency. thought maybe i could bring a telescope, paint the aurora. nice fancy hotel there too. 2 grand a night, i checked. then all along the arctic ridge over into russia, which is pretty much empty by the way, except for the moscow suburbs which look surprisingly like texas. the black sea coast, istanbul, the stans, kabul, pakistan, bangladesh, india, the centuries haven’t treated them well. head down under, circumnavigate australia, love tasmania and everything in the south seas. borneo, bali, viet nam, has come along way since the old days.
China is china. vast lower resolution, worth exploring. does have pizza and ƒries. Korea, Japan , over through the panama canal using the ruler to measure the size of the ships. down into south america, brazil to the falklands, back up the west coast through argentina, chile, peru. checked the nazca lines for accuracy. up to costa rica, nicaragua, guatemala, cuba, bahamas, florida, alabama, which looked similar to bulgaria and hungary with sunshine, strangely enough.
Greenland, iceland, very stout looking places. cruising across the canadian tundra and the shores of hudson bay over to alaska and the bars in anchorage, plenty of ƒries and pizza there. in fact, i visited restaurants in all of these places and more. they all had pizza and ƒries in some form. one place had pizza with m+ms and mayonnaise. ƒries look the same everywhere on earth.
How did this happen ?
Pizza is open to interpretation, ƒries are an institution. potatoes are smart, there’s a globe full of them. so earthlings, guess what we all have in common ? exactly, pizza and ƒrench ƒried potatoes. it’s a start.
Either everybody loves the italians and ƒrench, which could be true, or i’m on to something and world peace is possible. if our taste buds can all agree we like pizza and ƒrench ƒries, it shouldn’t be hard for our minds to agree, war is a lousy idea and the climate could use a tune up.
How hard is that. so next time you have a slice or dip some ƒries in ketchup, remember, you’re eating the key to World Peace.
Peace
