Spring cleaning • full speed ahead

Spring cleaning is in full swing. yard sales are popping up around here lately. i saw a next door neighbor duo yard combo. both had piles of things displayed in a double header front yard sale. the owners of all those things figured other people driving through the neighborhood like i was or just moseying by on the sidewalk might want to buy some Things. there was plenty of parking. mind you, every square foot of the two front yards and between the houses was occupied by some thing, down to the curb. there was a boat load of toys, multi colored things of all combinations of alphabetical plastic learning shapes that bounce, roll, make sound, gizmos, dolls, robots, cars, games, books, every amusing thing possible before giving your kid a phone thing.  plus clothes, dishes, pots, pans, furniture and many other used things, you have to ask yourself, why don’t they just move outside. i also felt a little sad because when the sun goes down someone will have to carry every thing back inside. assuming it’s a three day weekend event, that’s a lot of shlepping things in and out of the house. you could throw a tarp over all of it but then you would need to keep an eye on things all night. lose sleep over all of the things in the front yard. so there you have it, that’s the way things are as spring cleaning begins in earnest.

from here there and everywhere
